Nano-filtration Membrane NF-3013-400GPD for Drinking Water Filter
Nanofiltration membranes are a new type of separation membranes developed in the late 1980s. Their molecular weight cutoff is between the reverse osmosis membrane and the ultrafiltration membrane, about 100-2000da. It is speculated that the nanofiltration membrane may have a microporous structure of about LNM, so it is called "nanofiltration". Nanofiltration membranes are mostly composite membranes, and their surface separation layer is composed of polyelectrolytes, so they have a certain rejection of inorganic salts. Most of the commercial nanofiltration membranes in foreign countries are composed of an ultra-thin separation layer with nano pore size on the microporous base membrane by interfacial polycondensation and condensation.
Nanofiltration membrane can intercept nano scale (0.001 micron) substances. The operation range of nanofiltration membrane is between ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis, and the ability to intercept dissolved salts is between 20% - 98%. The removal rate of soluble monovalent ions is lower than that of high valent ions. Nanofiltration is generally used to remove organics and pigments in surface water, hardness and radium in groundwater, and partially remove dissolved salts. It is used for the extraction and concentration of useful substances in food and pharmaceutical production. The operating pressure of nanofiltration membrane is generally 3.5-30bar.
